Companion Consultancy was established in 2002 by veterinary surgeon, Susan McKay. Susan’s whole career has revolved around the veterinary, pet and farming industry, starting in practice and later moving into the petfood industry. Along the way, she gained an MBA, raised a careline to award winning standard, acted as a company spokesperson, appeared on TV and radio and as a freelance journalist has written articles for many pet, farming, veterinary and pet trade publications.

And when it comes to finding an authentic voice to address animal keepers, it all comes naturally, as the team at Companion has owned (at various times) dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, cage and aviary birds, sheep, tortoises, cold water and tropical fish, chickens, turkeys and horses. Did we mention we are a little obsessive about animals?

The original vision for Companion Consultancy (or Companion Consultancy and Copywriting as it was then) was to provide outstanding copy, based on technical know-how and an understanding of the market, all at an affordable price. Clients liked what we did and asked us to do other things: press releases, advertorials, leaflets and technical detailers. Today, our pet care booklets have been re-printed globally, we’ve run large-scale veterinary campaigns and been commissioned by leading companies in the veterinary sector for product launches.
